A little over one month since I wrote any article on my blog, and of course, has a reason.Actually I’ve been adjusting to new situations that will come very soon.
3 weeks ago I moved from one apartment to a little bigger. Fundamental to adapt to what is coming.
And is that in mid-October, I will be a father again and the little “Antunez” need their own bedroom, their own space.
The move also brought some problems, and one of them was the delay in the installation of Internet access, so I had a few days of inactivity.Although it also had its advantages being “offline” a few days to set new goals and new challenges.
We always have to be ready for change, ready to adapt to new situations due to new trends and even.
And my blog, though not enough and not notice it, has had a pretty big change … is adapted to the needs and habits of my readers as a result of a new trend new habits that people have to surf the Internet.
The Blog has an adaptive design.
What Is A Adaptive Design?
Internet is no longer only a computer screen. Today, internet is on mobile phones, iPhone, Tablets, laptops and who knows where the next few years more. So when you visit a website from any of these devices, their design should take into account all these devices and transformed to match the ideal size and shape of the screen from which you are viewing.
In short, it is an adaptive and responsive design (in English “responsive design” ) and ultimately is the design that my blog account at this time.
If you resize your browser right now, changing the size to at least 240 px wide, the design is almost perfectly adapted.

I say almost, because even I adapt some things. The head is one of them as not adjusting correctly when viewing the blog from a device with a very small screen. In reality within a few days you will see a change in the design of it and the “Home” page of the blog.
But I must keep working on some things … the videos, for example.Previously the videos inserted through a very simple plugin. With the new adaptive design of my blog, the videos are not displayed correctly, so I’m doomed to remedy this issue so that they too can be viewed from any device.
Should your Blog also have an adaptive design?
Today there are many WordPress themes, free and premium that you allow your blog design also have an adaptive or responsive.
But before deciding on a design blog adaptive or responsive, you need to truly understand what it means and if you really need to serve your visitors from mobile devices a different design based on your current content.
And this depends purely and specifically on the needs of your visitors.Your site, will you need a mobile interface or an adaptive design?
You must observe the behavior of your visitors from mobile phones and that is what they do when they are on your website. Of course it also depends on the type of site you manage.
Users with mobile phones basically need two things:
- The data they are looking
- Speed (need the data as fast as possible)
When you have an adaptive design, your site will load entirely (scripts, code, etc.) for mobile users and this can be problematic as responsive or adaptive design is intended for screens from 240 pixels, so it will increase dramatically loading time of your site for those users with very small screens.
If you consider that the speed is very important for the mobile experience, this can be a problem.
It is very important to understand that mobile devices are very different from the desktop web browsers, so users interact with them too much differently.
Considering these aspects, and the purpose of your website, you’ll need to decide whether or not your blog adaptive design.
In recent days I have been working on the redesign and audit of some blogs which I have already incorporated an adaptive design:
- The new Knight Martha Blog has an adaptive design.
- The Blog of Alex Hurtado in which perform an audit and redesign a few months ago has a design that also fits all screens.
- The new site with WordPress you configure for Jose Poveda (not yet launched) is responsive.
If you want to see some free themes for your WordPress blog, you will find a few options in the repositories of available themes. All allow you to have an adaptive design for your Blog to suit all screens.
But remember that you must also adapt some things over your Blog. Not everything is in the topic or theme you choose not to leave everything in order.
What is your opinion?
Did you know what was an adaptive design? Do you think it’s time to incorporate it into your Blog? How to serve content for your blog visitors that visit from mobile devices?
